Accessible Healthcare for Your Whānau

Our team of pharmacists are here to make healthcare more accessible for you and your whānau. Whether it’s advice or treatment for common minor illnesses, we are ready to help, so you can get the care you need, when you need it.

Minor Ailments Service

We’d like to introduce you to our Minor Ailments Service, where eligible individuals can consult our pharmacists for advice, and in some cases, receive free medication to treat certain conditions.

The Minor Ailments Service is available for:

  • Children under 14 years old, and any whānau members experiencing the same symptoms. (For example, if your tamariki has scabies, our pharmacists may also provide medicine for other members of your household who are showing similar symptoms, so everyone can get better together).

  • Community Services Card (CSC) holders, or children of CSC holders aged between 15-17 years.

  • Māori and Pacific people.

Under this service, you can see us for advice and treatment for a variety of minor health issues including:

  • Skin conditions like eczema, scabies, and fungal infections.

  • Eye inflammation and infections, including conjunctivitis.

  • Pain and fever (children).

  • Diarrhoea (and dehydration, often caused by vomiting or diarrhoea).

  • Urinary tract infections (for females between 16-65 years).

  • Head lice.

Our team of qualified healthcare providers are here for you, with the clinical know-how to give you the help you need. We can provide you with the appropriate medication or products along with information on the condition and advice on when to seek further help.

Come and See us at no Charge

Consultations at Clive’s Chemist, The Happy Chemist are available at no charge and we can often see you straight away. If you are eligible for the Minor Ailments Service, your medicines are also often fully funded. We can also help with many more conditions not covered under the Minor Ailments Service, like earache, sore throat, shingles, impotence and smoking/vape cessation, to name just a few.

Our goal is to make sure you have easy, local access to healthcare for minor illnesses, ensuring you and your family stay healthy. We take pride in delivering the best healthcare to the people of Wainuiomata and with our newly renovated premises, we have a number of private clinic rooms available. Pop in to see us today on Queen Street. Have a question? Feel free to give us a call on 04 564 8618. Our friendly pharmacists are here to help you and your whanau feel better.
